Mundrabilla
Iron, IAB
Found 1911
Western Australia, Australia

The first specimens from Mundrabilla were found by a Mr. H Kent in 1911 (112 & 116 grams). Exploration and mapping continued from 1912-1914 by Stimpson and Bowley in the area of Premier Downs, in Western Australia's Nullarbor Plain.

The strewnfield was further expanded by geologists R. B. Wilson and A. M. Cooney in 1967 while engaged on a geological survey for the Transcontinental Railway. Two multi-ton masses were found lying within slight depressions in clay soil, some 180 m apart. It was at this time that the name Mundrabilla was submitted and accepted leaving Premier Downs to never be credited with these hearty irons

And somewhere in the story is a rabbit trapper, not sure where he fits in but it was in the 1960's.

It is supected that the small knucklebone shaped individuals on the market today are blown out troilite sockets from the larger masses.
