AL MAHBAS a.k.a. NWA 2683 (provisional)

While in Tucson a few years ago I was fortunate enough to find a remote little tent that had
some larger than usual pieces of Al Mahbas.

This is a heavily weathered Pallasite with yellow olivine visible on the surface. A few years ago 600 or grams of fresher material was brought to market, this is the same material just more oxidized. It was found a coulple miles away from the main mass.

The location of this find is within a mined military zone near the Algerian boarder and the search for more pieces was interrupted by Moroccan miitary.
